For over 50 Years, our Mission has been to "Promote and Encourage Interest in the Science of Astronomy".

NJAA Observatory  -  Voorhees State Park  -  High Bridge,  NJ

The New Jersey Astronomical Association is the largest amateur astronomy organization in New Jersey and the only public observatory in Hunterdon County.

Located in Voorhees State Park (High Bridge), our mission is to educate the public on astronomy and provide opportunities to view the skies through our 26” telescope – the largest public telescope in New Jersey!

Our facility is open weekends from June through October. Public interest has grown to where we host thousands of visitors each year!  The recent 2017 Total Eclipse of the Sun brought over 1,000 visitors in just one day!

During our past 50 years we have:

- Featured professional speakers on astronomical topics.

- Developed special programs for “Young Astronomers”.

- Provided speakers to local schools and youth groups.

- Grown to over 350 members.

- Added two observatories to accommodate increasing numbers of visitors.

- Been recognized by the Int'l. Astronomical Union Minor Planet Center.

- Installed state of the art imaging equipment to support Astrophotography.

Please help us to continue...

We need sponsors to help us continue providing our educational services to an ever increasing population. We also need to plan for expanding our facility to meet the community’s needs.

Our only source of funding is membership dues and contributions. Our property is leased from the State of New Jersey; however, we receive no state funding.

Please join us for dinner to celebrate our accomplishments and sponsor our continuing mission to "Promote and Encourage Interest in the Science of Astronomy".
